Responsibilities       
The Production Manager (PM) uses his/her experience in print production to manage the day-to-day operations of the production department. The PM must effectively manage the print product budgets, schedules, production quality, production department staff, workflow and priorities, troubleshoot problems with customers, negotiate contracts/purchases with vendors, and provide timely and accurate reports to the Publisher/VP and Elsevier finance and BU contacts.   

Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in communications, journalism, business administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. 5 years of broad publishing and management experience that includes 3 years experience with supervision of exempt and non-exempt staff. Must be able to manage day-to-day budgets and departmental finances, schedules, ad traffic coordination, and relationships with clients and vendors. Strong proficiency with a production workflow environment including prepress and printing processes required. Proficiency with Mac and PC operating systems and publishing software including desktop publishing software (Quark, MSWord, MSExcel, InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Flightcheck etc.) Previous experience in with content managment systems and integration highly desired.
