2003 Maggie Winners

The Western Publications Association 52nd Annual Maggie Awards April 11, 2003 The Western Publications Association celebrated its 52nd Annual Maggie Awards, April 11, 2003 at the Westin Hotel at Los Angeles Airport. Over 600 publishing professionals attended the awards ceremony and banquet, honoring excellence in magazine and electronic publishing in the West. Nearly 90 Maggies were awarded for editorial, design and promotional excellence. This year’s Maggie competition topped 1700 entries from magazines published West of the Mississippi River or distributed soley West of the Mississippi River. A multimedia show, long an anticipated tradition at the Maggie Banquet, featured this year’s Maggie entries, complete with high-tech graphics, visual effects and upbeat soundtrack. The Western Publications Association (WPA), is a non-profit trade association working to advance the business of print and online magazines in the western United States. For more than half a century, WPA has represented magazine publishers and businesses within the publishing industry. One of WPA’s primary objectives is to promote the pursuit of excellence among publishing professionals. The tools, training and information WPA provides are designed to improve skills, foster creativity and inspire our members to do their best work. What better way to promote excellence than by recognizing its achievement? For more than fifty years, the WPA has bestowed awards of merit to deserving individuals and companies whose work was deemed “the best of the west” in a wide variety of categories within the publishing industry. The Western Publications Association congratulates all the 2003 Maggie Winners and thanks them for their effort, hard work and dedication to the magazine publishing industry.
